Let’s face it, we all get cravings once in a while. And when that happens, we’ve got you covered with this 100% guilt-free, insanely good-for-you Chlorella Avocado Toast recipe!

It may sound a little obvious to say that salt cravings mean you’re low in sodium. But it’s important to understand what that signifies for our bodies. Being low in sodium may mean that you’re experiencing adrenal fatigue.

Your adrenal glands – the glands on top of your kidneys responsible for controlling your stress response—release hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol and help regulate your fight-or-flight response.

If you’re under a lot of stress and frequently crave salty foods, it may be worth checking into your adrenal health and working on reducing your stress levels, as well as adding extra nutrients to your diet that may help support the overall functioning of your adrenals: including sea salt and other minerals, such as magnesium.

So when craving something salty, try this Chlorella Avocado Toast recipe. Not only is it delicious, but avocado contains naturally occurring sodium, and chlorella contains magnesium and other antioxidant vitamins and minerals that support adrenal health.

Try adding chlorella to your avocado toast for an extra serving of superfoods.

Ingredients:

2 pieces (or 8 mini pieces) sprouted grain, whole grain or gluten-free bread, toasted
1 avocado, pitted and smashed (with a fork)
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp Sun Chlorella® Powder or Sun Chlorella® Granule
1 tsp dijon mustard (optional)
Vegan cheese to top (optional)
2 pinches sea salt

Method:

  1. Toast bread.

  2. In a bowl, combine smashed avocado with chlorella, lemon juice and sea salt.

  3. Spread coconut oil and dijon mustard on toast.

  4. Top with avocado and chlorella mixture.

  5. Sprinkle with crumbled vegan cheese, if desired.

  6. Enjoy!
