Avocado Recipe: Creamy Pasta Sauce

The last thing you feel like doing in the summer is turning on the stove and working in the kitchen. Instead of going the take-out route, try this quick and easy avocado recipe for creamy pasta sauce! I have a feeling you'll love it.

Not only is this avocado recipe a time saver, but it also helps supply your body with the proper nourishment for health and wellness in the summer. Our bodies thrive off raw fruits and vegetables in the summer months because of the electrolytes they provide (which we lose through our sweat) and of course, their water content to keep us hydrated. In the summer when we have so many fun activities going on, it's just as important to eat nourishing foods rather than relying only on nutritional supplements.

Recipe Health Benefits 

Aside from essential natural vitamins and electrolytes, this raw garlic avocado pasta sauce provides spectacular health benefits for your skin, your heart and your digestive system.

Avocado
Avocado is full of monounsaturated fatty acids that help reduce your risk of heart disease and give your skin a healthy looking glow. Healthy fats also support the digestive system with regular elimination which is absolutely essential for a healthy body.

Garlic
Garlic contains a compound called allicin, which has antifungal properties. For this reason it's effective in fighting against yeast in the body which is a common cause of acne and digestive complaints. Garlic helps keep the digestive tract clean and also contains zinc, an important mineral for skin health.

Allicin is produced from garlic as soon as it is peeled and chopped. The longer garlic sits once it's been chopped, the more allicin it will produce. To get the most allicin out of this recipe, chop your garlic before preparing the other ingredients and let it sit for 10-15 minutes.

Cilantro
The antioxidant vitamins in cilantro help support the liver, which promotes cardiovascular health, a healthy digestive system and glowing skin. It flushes out toxins in the digestive tract and helps deodorize your body from the inside out, much like chlorella does. Cilantro and chlorella's benefits are maximized when taken together!

 Raw and Creamy Garlic Avocado Pasta Sauce

Ingredients
- 1 ripe avocado
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tsp cilantro (if you don't like cilantro, you can use parsley instead)
- 1/2 cup chopped spinach
- 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
- pinch of himalayan sea salt
- black pepper to taste
-a few splashes of filtered water to reach desired consistency

Pasta Recommendations:
To keep this recipe completely raw and add even more life-giving nutrients to your dish, try zucchini noodles. You can make zucchini noodles in seconds simply by using a julienne slicer or a spiralizer.You may also use whole grain pasta noodles made from quinoa, brown rice, spelt, kamut or 100% organic whole wheat.

Method
1. Chop garlic, spinach and cilantro. (Chop garlic and let sit for 15 minutes prior if you'd like to increase the health benefits!)

2. Place avocado, garlic, spinach, cilantro, lime juice, sea salt and pepper in your blender and blend until smooth. Add water in small amounts to reach your desired consistency. For a thinner sauce, add more water. For a thicker sauce, add less.

3. You're done! If you prefer to have this sauce cold (which can be more refreshing in the summer) chill and let sit in the fridge for 5-10 minutes.
