It all began as a single man's dream - the dream of our founding father, Mr. Hideo Nakayama. Upon experiencing an onslaught of illnesses that left his body battered, he made a fateful discovery that put him on the road to recovery: Chlorella. The rest of his life was dedicated to researching its benefits, and in 1969, he and his wife established HEIAN Chlorella Jeffcy. Co., Ltd. in Kyoto, Japan in hopes that more people will benefit from its use. In the next 10 years that followed, what began as a small supplement business grew into one of the top names of chlorella in Japan's highly-competitive health food industry.

By 1982, the company—newly named Sun Chlorella Co., Ltd.—was ready to venture out into the world’s vast health food market. Our founder, along with the new USA President of Sun Chlorella, George Higashida, established Sun Chlorella California Inc. The company underwent minor changes throughout the years until April 2000 when our name was permanently changed to what you know it as today: Sun Chlorella USA.

The company has come a long way from a one-man operation to a thriving, prosperous business. The foundation was built on quality products and a true desire to help people. The business now employs nearly one hundred people who are grateful for fostering a working environment that has the feel of a family business where everyone works hard at their job and pulls together to make Sun Chlorella USA more successful every day.

Now our current President & CEO, Yoshihito Nishimaki, Vice President & COO, Rose Straub, and Vice President & CFO, Ellen Kubijanto, carry the philosophy of our founder and the enthusiasm of the staff members that have gone before us.
